There’s new Selena music dropping on Friday! I remember when I was introduced to Selena, she had this unexplainable energy to her, not just in her recordings, but also in her performances. I felt particularly connected to her because, I too, was a Latina woman that did not know Spanish. In my opinion, she was a magnetic musical force and there will never be anyone else like her. I think that’s why after all these years, people are still impacted by who she was as an artist and as a person. When I have performed her songs in the past, I’m always surprised by how many people will sing the background response without me even asking when I’ve performed her song “Como La Flor”.
Even though Selena was from Texas, Colorado has also shown their love for her with tribute concerts, events and more. Roy McGlone Elementary School in Montbello even has a mural dedicated to the late singer.

Set to drop on Friday is a new single “Como Te Quiero Yo A Ti” that will be part of a 13-track album called “Moonchild Mixes”. There are two other versions of this song that were previously released, the first being in 1987 on the album “Preciosa” from her band ‘Selena y Los Dinos’ and the second on a posthumous album called “Momentos Intimos”.
In an Instagram post from Selena’s Brother, A.B. Quintanilla III, he answered some questions about the album and how they utilized technology to make recordings that were done when Selena was a teenager, sound more like how she did when she was 23.
DJ Bella Scratch is also excited about the new music dropping!
