Transforming Lives Through Community: Falcons Youth Football

Aaron Grimes and Damien Williams of Falcons Youth Football are making a profound impact on Denver’s Park Hill Community. As former athletes turned coaches, they bring diverse talents, such as Aaron’s skills with cameras and Damien’s passion for cooking, to support the youth. They focus on more than just sports, offering mental health resources through partnerships with the Colorado Health Foundation and violence prevention programs with the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund. Their initiatives include mentorship programs, mountain retreats, and life skills classes, extending their reach beyond athletics to provide comprehensive family support. Inspired by Damien’s mother, Geraldine “Gerie” Grimes , a former president of Falcons Youth Football, they continue her legacy of community service and dedication.

Despite their long history, many are unaware of the full scope of their programs. Aaron and Damien are expanding outreach efforts to ensure everyone knows about Falcons Youth Football’s extensive offerings, from sports to broader family support. Their upcoming events include:

  • Pop-up Movie Night: This Saturday at 17th and Syracuse in McNichols Park.
  • Pop-up Talent Show: On July 10th.
  • Back to School Backpack Giveaway: August 17th, featuring free haircuts, books, and fun activities.

For Aaron and Damien, giving back is deeply personal, and they invite the community to join them in their mission.
