Ryan Harris Advocates for Donate Life Colorado: A Community Effort that Saves Lives

Ryan Harris, former Denver Bronco, is a passionate advocate for organ and tissue donation through Donate Life Colorado. His commitment comes from a personal place: his father, a two-time kidney recipient, received his first kidney from a college roommate and his second through a donor match program, facilitated by Ryan’s father-in-law’s donation. These experiences have shown Ryan just how life-changing organ donation can be. In Colorado, over 1,300 people are waiting for organ donations, with 60% being ethnic minorities who are less likely to sign up as donors. This highlights the urgent need for more education and awareness about organ and tissue donation within these communities.

Ryan’s advocacy is also deeply rooted in his faith, believing that saving one life is akin to saving all of humanity. He aims to dispel fears and misconceptions about organ donation, emphasizing that it doesn’t prevent open casket funerals and that one donor can save up to 75 lives.
