Missy Elliot has made a huge impact and paved the way for other female artists and rappers. During her acceptance speech she gave a shout out to the female artists who paved the way for her as well: “Queen Latifah, Monie Love, Sha-Rock, Angie Stone, Roxannne Shanté, Yo-Yo, MC Lyte, and Salt-N-Pepa. “Y’all are the backs that we stand on.”Y’all are the foundation.” – Missy Elliot
