The Day of Dead on Super Soni*dos: Submit Your Musical Altar Songs by Oct 25

In Latin America and Mexico specifically the 1st and 2nd of November is known as The Day of the Dead.

This is a time to honor those who have passed, but it is also a time to invite them back home. This is done in many ways, including altars on tables, bookshelves, or mantles on which photos, favorite food and drink, flowers, and other beloved items are placed.

On Super Soni*dos, that altar is a musical one. Every year host La Molly celebrates the Day of the Dead by honoring the ancestors in our community by asking you to provide the offerings. She is currently collecting songs from The Drop listeners; songs that remind you of someone you love who has passed on, it could be a favorite song or a song that reminds you of a special moment with them.

If you would like to contribute to the Super Soni*dos musical altar please send the song name, artist, and if you’d like, a short story about your loved one to La Molly at mollygallegos@kuvo.org by Friday, October 25. The songs will be our collective pan dulce and hot coffee, enticing our loved ones to return to us, if even for a few moments.

Celebrate Dìa de Los Muertos with your host La Molly on Friday, November 1, at 1 p.m.
