Dance Theatre of Harlem
A singular presence in the dance world, Dance Theatre of Harlem was founded in 1969, moved to action by the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968. Through performances and community engagement, the company carries forward their message of “empowerment through the arts for all.” The 18-member, multi-ethnic company performs forward-thinking repertoire that uses the language of ballet to celebrate African American culture.
